It’s been 4 years since hurricane Katrina took it’s toll on New Orleans, and almost nothing has improved. We were shocked to witness it.

Architects John Williams and his daughter Chapel. Williams is rebuilding houses in the lower 9th ward which was hit the worst. Brad Pitt is the man behind the project, and the one who hired John Williams.

Gloria Guy got a new house from Brad Pitt. She lives here with her 9 grand children. One of her daughters was killed by Katrina.

This is the tree that saved Gloria and her family. Her son punched a hole in their roof so they could climb out while their house was filling up with water. Then they jumped over to the next house, and managed to climb into this tree. They sat in this tree for almost 10 hours.

Everything got washed away in the area. 18,000 people used to live in the area. Only 1,300 people have been able to return. This is what meets them…

People are still suffering and griefing. Many died in the years following Katrina due to stress.

Most of the people working on the project are volunteers.

Sun Pie Barnes is a musician. He left the city a few days before the hurricane hit because of a dream he had. Now he is a park ranger and plays music at night. He thinks it will take 10-15 years until New Orleans will recover from the catastrofe.

We love New Orleans and pray that some of these areas will recover soon. This part of our blog is dedicated to thanking the supporters of these types of projects.

If you want to read about all our sillyness and happier moments in New Orleans stay tuned. Bourbon street, liquor association and steam boat cruising will be covered soon. Peace out.
