At the opening of Tribeca Film Festival today, Uma and De Niro had some very cute and challenging moments.
Uma Thurman, Spike Lee and Robert De Niro were all gathered to welcome us to the annual Tribeca Film Festival. The festvial starts officially tomorrow – and goes on for 12 days.
Uma is in the jury this year with Meg Ryan, Adrian Brody, Bradley Cooper and 28 other jurors.
But even Kill Bill mama can be a little unorganized sometimes…
In lack of words De Niro simply ends up bear hugging Spike Lee. Who wouldn’t want a hug like that? (I’ll make him an offer he can’t refuse later this week.) But when it was Uma’s turn – she only got one kiss…
Spike Lee has a documentary about Kobe Briant at the festival this year. Here posing with co-founders Jane Rosenthal and Roberts Di Nero – and of course Uma Thurman.
For those of you that didn’t know; Tribeca Film Festival started in 2002 after 9/11 as an attempt to attract people to Lower Manhattan again. The main sponsor has always been American Express, who was established as early as 1850, in New York. Remember this ad?
This year the festival will show 85 features and 46 short films representing 36 different countries.
For movies and screening schedules – go here.
Not surprisingly, several of the 2009 films have already generated considerable press coverage due simply to their big names, like Spike Lee’s new documentary Kobe Doin’ Work, Steven Soderbergh‘s The Girlfriend Experience and Woody Allen’s film starring Larry David Whatever Works. I look forward to interviewing Woody Allen and his cast on Friday.
