The outfits Isla Fisher is wearing in “Confessions of a Shopahlic” went from quirky and cute to downright crazy.
If this would be real life - Isla Fisher’s character Rebecca Bloomberg would be on top of the world. But only on top of the worlds worst dressed lists. The colors were brighter than a gay parade, but if you expect any new fashion ideas from Patricia Field this time - you will be dissapointed. The clothes are fun though - but most of them would look better in a circus - than on Mott Street in Nolita.
Here is the proof. And there is a big anchor necklace that I couldn’t find a picture of. It is so big and fat that any sailor would start weeping of jealousy.

Patricia Fields personal style has never been very glamorous. And during the interview yesterday (yes, there was a big movie junket at the Ritz Carlton yesterday) she was smoking so many Newport cigarettes that it was kind of hard to see her. Luckily her red hair was visible through the cloud… As usual she is not the easiest person to interview, because she never really wants to talk about fashion. She is not in fashion, she says. “I work in movies”. So I guess is just us - we are just expecting her to start new trends every time she does a new movie - but that is not at all what Patricia Field is about.

Anyway - the movie was like you would expect a chic flick -movie to be like. The main character is of course a writer (same as in Bridget Jones Diary, Sex and the City - The Movie and The Devil Wears Prada) - and there is romance and a happy ending. Voila!
I spoke to the whole cast yesterday and Isla Fisher admitted that after the movie she started wearing brighter colors. But it only lasted for about 2 weeks. Then she felt too self conscious, and went back to “normal”. As usual she doesn’t want to talk about her boyfriend Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat) - but I met him on my way out of the Ritz Carlton Hotel. He had their little daughter in a stroller and the nanny was helping him get her out of there. Outside the paparazzies were swarming. I have to say I look forward to his new movie with the outrageous gay character Bruno. I cross my fingers that he would do something funny to make some stir at the upcoming fashion week here in New York.
To wrap it up - Shopaholic is a fun movie, with a lot of color, a little cheese and some cliches, but there are also some fun scenes that made me laugh. A little.
