Tick, tock – Kiefer’s back

Yes, they were ALL there; Kiefer Sutherland, Jon Voigt – and the rest of the cast from the feature film 24:Redemption.
The premiere of the two hour long “24″-movie, to be shown on American TV in a few days, was held at the AMC Theatre by Time Square here on Manhattan. The red carpet was secreted away on the 5th floor behind some tall walls, where even flashing my press card didn’t grant access. Reason being that the constrained area was so stuffed with people that there wasn’t a single journalist slot available. Hmph. And yes, I was too late. Gulp.

Well, well – I got free popcorn and soda anyway, and just before the start of the film the director made an entrance and gave a short speech on the movie, the series – and how wonderful it had been working with Kiefer. The man himself was standing, waving on the sideline, interjecting fitting comments now and again. When the movie began Jon Voigt entered the scene, huffing and puffing. He seemed terribly old and helpless. A lady supported him up the stairs and set him down right in front of me. I made an effort to get a glimpse of his facial expression every time he saw himself on the silver screen. I mean, seeing yourself blown up like that has to be a drag, right? But as far as I could tell, Angelina’s dad didn’t care overmuch. He snuck out just before the grand finale.
The film was a bit disappointing, I think. When the clock goes tick, tock for only two hours (and you’re used to 24 hour-sessions), which also happens to be the real-time of the film, the entire concept gets a bit lame. You just didn’t get enough action and complications. But since this movie is just an appetizer for the new series kicking off on TV-sets all over the US around now, I don’t think we need to worry much. Kiefer was in great shape! And one final treat: This time the president’s a woman.
And since my master plan (making out with Kiefer) went down the drain, and I never got a shot at filming anything from the whole shebang, you’ll have to make do with a preparation-video this time.

From the time Kiefer only had eyes for me …

He even let me borrow his glasses …
