Kid Rock was really fit for fight yesterday - and even though our breasts aren’t Pamela-sized, he was more than happy to share a drink with us.
The occasion was MTV’s 10-year anniversary for TLR (Total Live Request) and the afterparty took off at the night club Nikki Beach. When Kid arrived at the party he refused to pose on the red carpet, and one of his accessoire bodyguards flashed a flashlight, blending hopeful photographers while jumping the line in front of us (Yes, rock stars can do that).
For those of you who didn’t catch yesterday’s TLR broadcast, let’s enlighten you: It went live here on MTV - and was shown on a jumbo screen in Time Square. The performers included Beyoncé, Ludacris, Snoop Dogg, Nelly, Fall Out Boy, 50 Cent and Backstreet Boys. Others appearing during the show were P Diddy, Mariah Carey, Taylor Swift, Hilary Duff, Good Charlotte’s Benji, Joel Madden and Fred Durst, front man of Limp Bizkit. But none of these, except from Benji and Joel, got anywhere near the afterparty. Those two were sitting in a sofa next to us, swilling down vodka.
Carson Daly co-hosted the big happening. He had just nicked Kid Frost’s hat, and wanted to wear it in front of the camera.
But even though the guest list was stacked with rockers, the rock n’ roll-factor was tediously low. No stripping, no beatings, no trashing of the nightclub. Hm, the glorious days of rock and rage seem a thing of the past.
