Gourmet in the library

PUBLIC is a small treasure which is guaranteed to make your tastebuds laugh out loud, no matter if you prefer meat, fish, chocolate mousse or tall cocktails.
Here they treat you with pink sea trout from Tasmania and snappers from New Zealand, in locales reminiscent of public schools or libraries. It used to be a bakery, now they have a separate wall for books and several shelves are filled with old-fashioned library catalogue cards.

But the ‘public’ atmosphere is soon a thing of the past when the food appears before you. The menu is put together by the master chef Brad Farmerie, and is a mixture of Australian cuisine, fresh ingredients straight out of the farmyard and spices and herbs from South East Asia. The clientele consists of everything from busy businessmen to hip locals and dating couples. The spot is also known for its weekend brunches. But remember - always reserve a table beforehand.
