Taking fresh photos when you ideally want a cloud free sky as a back drop, and reality is full of rain, isn’t the easiest feat in the world. When I was about to style a fashion series for a Danish magazine last week, a lot of things went wrong …

Come Sunday, the sky opened wide - and the rain kept on pouring. We hadn’t managed to get another location, so our original plan of taking pictures in the streets of New York had to be pulled through.
Both myself, photographer Patricia and make-up artist Sara were vigorously biting our neon-laquered nails down to little stumps while praying to all the higher powers of Manhattan. Did we have to cancel the shoot?

At 1pm we finally got started, and when we crossed Brooklyn Bridge, the skies began to brighten.

No matter what you plan on doing in the States, you have to fill out papers and spill out cash. When your budget is as small as an Hérve Legér-dress is short, you have to cheat a bit. Shoot and run, in other words …

As the clouds disappeared, the general mood improved. We moved our small set from Brooklyn to Tribeca on Manhattan to take the last pictures. And to make an already stressful day even more stressful, the model was supposed to catch a plane to Boston later the same day. Ten photos, five hours: GO!

And while some play, others work. But we did it in the end, and as the expression goes in fashion language: THAT`S A WRAP …
