This joint, open almost 24/7, is a modern rendition of those diners of old, and is strategically placed smack in the middle of the Meatpacking District, party mecca of the city.

The waiters here have been accused of being TSA (totally standing around) – but when you finally get their attention, they’re amazingly helpful. If you’re ready for a real sandwich or a juicy burger - or three (yes, they sell some very cute mini burgers) then it’s time to raise your flag. Fish Taco is another favorite.

Inside the red booths you’ll find a good mix of well dressed gay couples, gangs of friends and straight couples - or breezy party kings that just met ten minutes ago at the night club around the bend. If you’re alone you can whittle away those hours by reading Vogue or Interview Magazine, and look for all the world like a true bred New Yorker - there’s a whole wall filled with magazines and other reading material you’re free to borrow.

The Diner offers breakfast all through its opening hours, and you can bring children, who in turn can enjoy spaghetti and meat balls, disco fries or mac and cheese. In the summer they open the doors and fill the sidewalk with tables.
